Application for Associate Degree or Certificate
A candidate for an associate’s degree or a certificate program must file a Graduation Application for the degree or certificate online via WebAdvisor. Application deadlines are listed in the academic calendar of the catalog. No student is a candidate for graduation until the application is completed. Graduation ceremonies for degree candidates are held at the end of the spring semester each year. Diplomas will be dated at the end of the semester or summer session in which requirements are met. Diplomas and certificates are mailed to successful candidates approximately 45 days after fulfilling graduation requirements.
Multiple Degrees
A student may gain more than one AA and/or AS degree from Fresno City College. Although a course used for a prescribed graduation and/or general education requirements may count toward more than one degree, no course may count toward the major course requirements for more than one degree major.
Catalog Rights
A student may elect to meet the requirements for the associate degree from:
- The catalog in effect at the time of the student’s graduation, or
- The catalog in effect at the time the student began continuous enrollment (original catalog) leading to graduation.
Original catalog rights will be lost when the student’s continuous enrollment is interrupted in two consecutive calendar years.
Requirements for AA and AS Degrees and Certificates
It is the student's responsibility to be aware of degree and certificate requirements and of the student's standing in regard to those requirements and catalog rights. Students are urged to consult with a counselor regarding any questions about degree or certificate requirements for the catalog year the student selects.
The Board of Trustees of this District shall award the associate in arts degree, the associate in science degree, the certificate of achievement, the certificate of completion and the certificate in …, to applicants upon the satisfactory completion of the requirements as listed in the Associate Degree and Certificate Program section in the appropriate catalog 2010-2012 catalog.
The college reserves the right to determine what courses may be considered as equivalents for the stated degree, certificate, and general education requirements listed in this catalog. Please see the appropriate Dean or Vice President of Admissions and Records for pertinent information.
